  • Successful completion of a minimum 120  contact teaching hours

What are the requirements for entry into training?

If you are thinking about training with International Reflexology & Life Skills Workshops, you will need to be fully committed to learning what is essentially a full-time course, even though you attend Study Days on a part-time basis.  A high degree of self-motivation and responsibility are required, both as part of training and in professional practice.

It would be helpful if you have sat exams in the past, whatever subject - but don't worry if you haven't studied for a long time, the School's oldest practitioner is 82 years old!  It may just take you a little longer to reach an exam standard without having studied in the past; what's most important is your dedication to learning.

What if I have Special Needs?

We can probably accommodate anyone with Special Needs, providing they are committed to learning.

Sometimes, those whose work involves caring for others, which may not require formal qualifications or who have learning or physical disabilities may be eligible for entry into training. Please tell us of any important details about yourself before enrolling on a Course.

How long will training take?

The Course offers 84 contact teaching hours are spread over a minimum of 12 months to allow students to absorb, integrate and reflect on their learning throughout training.  However, you may find that you need longer to learn if you have not studied for a long time.  Those students who hold a nursing qualification, or similar, may be able to sit examinations at an earlier point than the majority of the group through the process of Accredited Prior Learning, providing all of the Course work has been submitted.

Students are expected to be self-motivated to study as a part-time student, using books and resources available.

Who sets the examinations?

Examinations are set by International Reflexology & Life Skills Workshops at the end of the training period when students are expected to sit them.  If for some reason, you cannot take the exam at the expected time, it may be possible to sit exams with another group of students after your original date set to sit them, possibly in the UK.   Alternatively, it may be that you will sit an exam on your own if you cannot meet exam deadlines or there are no further group examinations planned within a three month period.

Students are expected to fund additional exam fees if the set date for exams cannot be attended.

The course is designed to assist students seeking membership from an accrediting organization once examinations have been successfully completed with International Reflexology & Life Skills Workshops. Additional contact teaching hours with an accrediting organisation may be required to enable you to meet their criteria for membership. It is therefore recommended that you approach the accrediting organization of your choice to check procedures for membership.

Where are Course Study Days held?

The venue for attendance will be in Winchester, Hampshire, UK. You can either have your mid-day lunch at the hotel, or bring your own.  All refreshments are at student's own cost. You will receive confirmation that the Course is to start approximately two weeks before the specified date with details of how to find the venue.

Attendance on Study Days is a compulsory part of training and has many advantages:

  • It gives contact with other students
  • It provides stimulation and new ideas
  • It gives moral support to know that you are not alone in your learning
  • The days are good fun!

Can I have support with learning if I find I am having difficulties?

Individual tutorials with the Principal at any time during your training are available by e-mail in addition to your 84 contact teaching hours. The fee for additional tutorials is set at £25.00 per half hour during training and can be made by webcam appointment, telephone or by post.   The fee to students who are required to re-sit examinations to attain a satisfactory standard of theory and practice is £40.00 per hour.

How many students are there in a group?

It is recommended that adult teaching take place in groups of no more than ten or twelve students.  As a result, groups are no more than twelve for the practical application of reflexology.

How much are the Course Fees?

Course fees are currently set at £950.00 for both the Practitioner Certificate and the Advanced Reflexology Diploma. Students receive a minimum 84 contact teaching hours for the Practitioner Certificate training and 65 contact teaching hours for the Advanced Reflexology Diploma.  (see heading ‘Booking a Course’)

An easy payment scheme is available where fees are divided into three payments.  The first being £400.00, due at least one month before enrolment onto a Course; the second payment of £275.00 is due on the first day of training, together with a post-dated cheque of £275.00 dated six weeks from the commencement date of training (see International Practitioner and Advanced Training Courses Prices for details).

Learning resources are additional expenditures. Examination fees are included in the Course fees.
